Porcelain

A Curious Recipe!

Ornament and Crime is an essay in which Adolf Loos presents his attitude towards the use of ornament in applied art. He considers the inclination to ornamentality to be typical of old-fashioned people, while a modern man prefers simplicity and temperance. He is reserved against pomposity and even old-fashioned feasting. In this project A Curious Recipe! (Podivuhodný recept!) I selected several excerpts (from the czech translated version of the essay) that mention food or consumption and used them to decorate dining plates, transforming a simple practical object into a decorative object. The result resembles a home blessing – a typical atribute decorating the walls of traditional households.
